Roikkuva (CH)

Die zeitgenössischen Zirkusproduktionen von Roikkuva(Finnisch für »hängendes Bild«) stehen für eine eigenständige und einzigartige Verbindung von artistischen Elementen, Zirkustraditionen, Theater, Musik und Humor. Andreas Muntwyler war jahrzehntelang mit dem familieneigenen »Circus Monti« auf Tournee und hat in dieser Zeit das Zirkusleben intensiv gelebt. Ulla Tikka war 2001 während einer Saison mit dem »Circus Monti« auf Tournee. Nachdem sich Ulla Tikka und Andreas Muntwyler im Jahre 2001 sozusagen in der Manege kennengelernt haben, gründeten sie im Jahre 2002 ihre erste Compagnie, das »Duo F-ART«. Seit 2003 sind sie freischaffend im Bereich des zeitgenössischen Zirkus tätig. Nachdem sie jahrelang mit diversen Projekten und Compagnien national und international auf Tournee waren und auch immer wieder in verschiedenen Zusammensetzungen eigene erfolgreiche Projekte realisiert haben, entschieden sie sich, gemeinsam mit dem Pianisten Lukas Stäger und dem Produktionsleiter Michael Durrer im Jahre 2011 die Compagnie Roikkuva zu gründen. Lukas Stäger und Michael Durrer zogen sich inzwischen aus den operativen Tätigkeiten zurück und die Gesamtleitung der Compagnie liegt seitdem in den Händen von Ulla Tikka und Andreas Muntwyler.

The contemporary circus productions of Roikkuva (Finnish for „hanging picture“) stand for an independent and unique combination of artistic elements, circus traditions, theater, music and humor. Andreas Muntwyler toured for decades with the family-owned „Circus Monti“ and lived circus life intensively during this time. Ulla Tikka toured with „Circus Monti“ for one season in 2001. After Ulla Tikka and Andreas Muntwyler met in the circus ring in 2001, so to speak, they founded their first company, the „Duo F-ART“, in 2002. They have been working as freelancers in the field of contemporary circus since 2003. After years of touring nationally and internationally with various projects and companies and repeatedly realizing their own successful projects in different combinations, they decided to found the Roikkuva company together with pianist Lukas Stäger and production manager Michael Durrer in 2011. Lukas Stäger and Michael Durrer have since retired from operational activities and the overall management of the company has since been in the hands of Ulla Tikka and Andreas Muntwyler.

DIALOGE – Eine Gratwanderung

Zwei Seiltänzer:innen und zwei Musiker:innen erzählen kleine und große Geschichten. Ohne Worte, ohne Vergangenheit, jeden Abend neu und anders. Hier geht es nicht um die Performance oder um Höchstleistungen. Nicht das Spektakel, das Spektakuläre steht im Vordergrund, das Flüchtige im Moment des Entstehens. Was wir erleben ist fragil und berührend, aber auch humorvoll. Und natürlich spektakulär, weil dieser Dialog auf einem dünnen Draht geführt wird. Eine echte Gratwanderung.

Seiltänzer:innen und Musiker:innen begegnen sich und diskutieren. »Der Dialog beginnt, wo die Diskussion aufhört« sagte einst der Philosoph und Physiker David Bohm. »Der Dialog ist eine neue Form des Gesprächs. Hier werden weniger Argumente ausgetauscht, sondern Horizonte eröffnet. Der Dialog ist eine Chance, Neues zu entdecken, keine Garantie, Altes zu bewahren.« Also weg mit den Garantien und dem Sicherungsnetz!

Two tightrope walkers and two musicians tell small and big stories. Without words, without a past, new and different every evening. This is not about the performance or top performances. The focus is not on spectacle and effects, but on getting involved with each other. Only what happens in the moment counts. What we experience is fragile and touching, but also humorous. And of course spectacular, because this dialog is conducted on a thin wire. A real tightrope walk. »Dialogue begins where discussion ends,« philosopher and physicist David Bohm once said. »Dialogue is a new form of conversation. It is less about exchanging arguments and more about opening up new horizons. Dialogue is an opportunity to discover new things, not a guarantee to preserve the old.« So away with the safety net and the false bottom!
